Bills Passed by Governor Lombardo After Nevada Special Session

LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — Governor Joe Lombardo has stated that all bills submitted to his desk after the 2025 Special Session have been signed.

As per the Nevada Legislature, a minimum of 27 bills were presented during the 36th Special Session. The Governor’s office reports that Lombardo has signed 13 bills into law. These laws address various legislative topics, including public safety, expanding healthcare access, and enhancing cybersecurity.

I am especially proud of the historic public safety changes enacted during this session, which will enhance security on the Las Vegas Strip, target DUI offenders more effectively, and bring back a sense of safety and security to our neighborhoods,” said Governor Lombardo. “I thank the Legislature for their bipartisan efforts, and I am pleased that we have successfully implemented significant, thoughtful reforms that will benefit Nevada by making it stronger and safer for many years ahead.

Senate Bills:

  • SB1Short-term vehicle rental insurance requirement
    • Mandates rental companies to verify renters’ insurance prior to vehicle delivery, decreasing the number of uninsured drivers, assisting law enforcement, and minimizing financial liability for businesses and taxpayers.
  • SB2: Modifications in legislative matters Operations
    • Outlines the procedure for operations within the Legislative Counsel and indicates that the Nevada Revised Statutes does not constitute a constitutional legislative decision.
  • SB3: Established Silver State General Aid Program
    • Initiates procedures for federal assistance to be accessible for state actions in exceptional situations where qualifying families are experiencing food insecurity or economic pressure.
  • SB4: Nevada budget allocation
    • Financial support for initiatives focused on health during emergencies, UNR and NDOC medical equipment, SNAP error-reduction technology, construction projects at UNLV and UNR, and efforts to increase Medicaid outreach and expand operations across state agencies.
  • SB 5Increased availability of healthcare and employment opportunities
    • Creates a Statewide Health Care Access and Recruitment Initiative, promotes private sector investment and employment opportunities, provides competitive grants to enhance clinical services and bolster the healthcare workforce, and mandates supervision and responsibility.
  • SB6: Windsor Park relocation initiative
    • Offers support and monitoring for families in Windsor Park who have been dealing with ongoing structural and environmental issues, along with regular updates to the Temporary Finance Committee to guarantee secure, reliable, and lasting housing.
  • SB8: Modifications to employment and pay
    • Aligns Nevada’s wage and labor regulations with federal standards to update compliance procedures, minimize employer uncertainty, and decrease the likelihood of legal disputes.

Assembly Bills:

  • AB1: Statewide cybersecurity framework
    • Creates a functional procedure and initiative to enhance the state’s cybersecurity measures.
  • AB2: Simplify alcohol beverage regulations
    • Updates brew pub regulations and licensing procedures, revises payment terms between retailers and wholesalers, enhances record-keeping and adherence requirements for manufacturers, and aids Nevada’s hospitality and craft beverage sector.
  • AB3: Protections and privacy for elected officials
    • Allows officials to utilize campaign money for security associated with their official duties, expands confidentiality safeguards for them and their relatives, and revises privacy and election regulations to meet current security requirements.
  • AB4: Improvements to public safety and criminal justice measures
    • A significant revision of Nevada’s public safety regulations: including enhancing security on the Las Vegas Strip by accelerating the handling of cases involving crimes in the region, as well as reinforcing legal provisions for offenses such as assault, battery, and harassment.
  • AB6Enhancements in traffic safety within school zones
    • Provides local governments with increased authority regarding school zone infrastructure, increases punishments for infractions, and enhances safety for students and pedestrians across the state.

Governor Lombardo also signed SB7, a temporary emergency measure aimed at addressing first-responder coverage following a recent court ruling. Authorities state that the bill was enacted swiftly and will need adjustments in upcoming legislative sessions.

Lombardo is set to participate in a symbolic bill signing event in the near future.
