Jada Pinkett Smithis dealing with significant accusations after a long-time friend and former colleague of Will Smith filed a $3 million lawsuit, alleging that she threatened him and subsequently launched a campaign to damage his reputation.
The lawsuit, initiated by Bilaal Salaam, claims the issues started at Will Smith’s birthday party in September 2021.
As stated in the lawsuit, Salaam claims that Jada approached him along with some of her staff and “became verbally hostile,” threatening that if he continued “sharing her private details,” he would “disappear or get shot.”
He also asserts that she insisted he sign a non-disclosure agreement “or else.” Salaam mentions that one of her associates subsequently followed him to his car, continuing to make threats.
Hello, who refers to having been close to Will Smith for almost 40 years, mentions that the issues escalated after the 2022 Academy Awards, when Will slapped comedian Chris Rock on stage.
According to ENews, Salaam states that he was requested to assist with crisis management but declined, asserting that his conscience would not permit him to “participate in any cover-up or misleading PR campaign.”
The legal action states that following his refusal, individuals associated with the Smiths started issuing threats against him.
Salaam states that the situation worsened when the couple found out he was writing a “whistleblower memoir” regarding his time working with them.
He claims he began providing public interviews as a means of self-protection, but Jada responded by initiating a “defamation campaign” against him during national interviews.
Jada Pinkett Smith Faces Allegations of Misleading Public Remarks
In a section of the lawsuit, Salaam claims that Jada wrongly alleged he attempted to extort money from her and Will.
He also references her previous public remarks, including statementsto TMZ in whichShe mentioned that the couple intended to pursue legal action against him.
“Defendant never initiated a legal action,” Salaam claims, stating that her statements were “untrue” and intended to damage his reputation,People reported.
Salaam asserts that these actions resulted in emotional suffering, financial harm, and significant impact on his personal and professional life. He further states that Jada and “her representatives” attempted to intimidate, offer bribes, and suppress him.
The lawsuit claims that Jada engaged in deliberate emotional harm and “extreme and shocking behavior.”
In addition to the $3 million in special damages, Salaam is also requesting further punitive damages and a public correction of what he refers to as false and damaging statements.
Jada Pinkett Smith has not provided a new official statement regarding the legal case.
