Laredo Grieves for A&M Student Found Dead Near Austin Apartment

LAREDO, Texas (KGNS) – What happened to Brianna Aguilera?

Brianna Aguilera, a young woman from Laredo and a student at Texas A&M, passed away in Austin following a tailgate event on Friday — a situation that has now captured nationwide interest.

Her body was found the next day, Saturday, November 29, close to an apartment building. According to Austin police, Aguilera fell from a 17th-floor residence. Her mother, in comments made to KGNS, has challenged this version of events and is opposing the police’s account.

U.S. Representative Henry Cuellar shared his sympathies on social media, stating that his office has been keeping track of the situation and will remain attentive to any updates.

Aguilera was just days away from celebrating her 20th birthday and was set to graduate from Texas A&M next year. She had also completed her studies at United High School. Javier Montemayor, president of the UISD Board, expressed deep sadness over her passing, highlighting the effect on the district and the broader community.

“They become part of a family, all of our students. All 39,000 of our students are considered part of the family. Our teachers and administrators interact with them daily. Therefore, it’s extremely challenging when you hear about a former or current student passing away,” Montemayor said.

Currently, Austin police state that the death is not being considered a homicide. The case is still under investigation as officials wait for the medical examiner’s findings.
